Atlantic Coast – Fully Guided (Deposit)

Our Atlantic Coast Tour makes for a great ride through the heart of Brittany, across to France’s beautiful and wilder west coast and then, hugs the coastline down through the Vendée and on to the historic seaport of La Rochelle . It is also the first leg of a potential three leg cycle tour which guides you down the length and breadth of France. Brittany is wrapped by a dramatic indented coastline with cliffs and beautiful beaches; in its centre is a complex of low rolling hills where the land has given us some of its great cultural icons, crepes, galettes and of course cider. Venture a little further south and you will be entering a landscape of dramatic seas and salt marshes, with some of France’s coastal gems. This is where the north begins to merge with the south of France; watch the temperatures rise and let the place of life slow just a little.
Isn’t it time you discovered the Wilder West.

As one of our ‘Length and Breadth’ Fully Guided Tours, this offers a closer to nature experience as you can choose for nearly all of the nights to be spent on campsites, with campsite meals provided on three of the evenings (or you can choose the Hotel/B&B version of the tour).    We provide the tents and, will pitch them for you; your own sleeping bag and camping mat are the only real extras you will need to bring in comparison to our other tours. Your luggage will be transferred for you between campsites so, the cycling remains a relaxing pleasure but the feeling of a greater escape is real and the rewards are plentiful.

Baie de la Somme – Fully Guided (Deposit)

When a country like France has such a famous cycling heritage and, there are so many great cycling regions and routes to potentially explore, it is possibly easy to overlook the wonderful opportunities on our metaphorical doorstep. Just a short ferry ride over the English Channel there is some of the most surprising and accessible coastal and rural cycling that France has to offer. This makes it even easier for your journey to your cycling tour to become part of the adventure itself.
Our Baie de la Somme Tour includes great beaches and fishing harbours of the Côted’Opale, quiet gentle valleys of pollarded willow and trees draped with mistletoe, dramatic gothic architecture and, one of the prestigious Grande Site de France. All these elements are drawn together by a delightful cycling circuit which we have returned to again and again.
An opportunity to leave the car behind, even to bring your own bicycle, let the adventure start from home.
So near – so France.

Entre Deux Mers – Fully Guided (Deposit)

Our Entre Deux Mers Tour makes for a great ride from the centre of France’s Atlantic coastline at La Rochelle, and through Historic Aquitaine. It is also the second leg of a potential three leg cycle tour which guides you down the length and breadth of France.
When this area was governed by the Angevin Empire through much of the Middle Ages, the vast production of wine it controlled accounted for a significant proportion of the Crown’s national income. Crossing this part of France can easily be mapped by names which resonate with the fruit of its earth; Médoc, Entre Deux Mers, Graves and Armagnac. Fabulous coastal stretches give way to green slopes falling into rivers, great and small. And, when it comes to the built environment, there is Bordeaux ‘The Pearl of Aquitaine’ a wine capital for the world and, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in recognition of its historic architecture and, Toulouse ‘The Pink City’, named after its terracotta bricks and, also proud possessor of two World Heritage Sites.

Paris by Pedal Power – Fully Guided (Deposit)

You may never win the Tour de France but, how would you feel cycling down the Champs-Élysées having ridden under your own steam all the way from the sea. Just an overnight sail away, Normandy has the weather to match and even better the best of an English summer, and of course, manages to deliver that with very French aplomb. From the beautiful harbour of Honfleur and heading inland, Haute Normandie is one of France’s great dairy ‘baskets’ and famous for its butter and cheeses, not to mention its fine and more earthy ciders.
Pedal Power to Paris picks its way down quiet lanes of Normandy, gently crossing tributaries of the River Seine, passing through timber-framed villages and, winding through a patchwork of plentiful fields. The tour brings you up to the edge of the Ile de France where you cycle through Louis VI’s 13th Century arch of La Porte de Bretagne before discovering a remarkably rural route right to the heart of capital city. Surprise yourself as you sneak up on Paris.

Provence – Hidden Provence – Fully Guided (Deposit)

Tucked behind the glamour of parts of the French Riviera, is a Provence that looks to its land rather than out to sea, no more so in the northern reaches of the region where the lower mountains of the Alps seem not much more than a very hefty stone’s throw away.

On our Hidden Provence cycle tour, after a first relaxing evening and peaceful sleep, we will transport you to a slightly wilder and remote Provence. More sparsely populated than the coastal areas, the north of the region contains some dramatic landscape; deep gorges, wooded slopes and an intricate network of valleys connecting smaller and sleepier towns, villages and hamlets. It has an ancient history where people lived not just on the land but sometimes in it.

You will have opportunities to splash about in the cooling blue waters of the Verdon before you start your riding from a hilltop with fantastic vistas in all directions. From here back to the starting point of your tour, great cycling down quiet lanes and along hidden tracks is the very best way to discover and unlock the heartland of Provence at its and your natural pace.

Let a Hidden Provence put a smile on your face every day from dawn until dusk.
